## Attribution is a decision tool, not a verdict

A shopper may see a vehicle ad, search later, call from another device, and visit the store after speaking with a salesperson. No reporting model can perfectly explain every touchpoint. The job is to make better budget and process decisions with the information you have.

## Define the dealership events that matter

Start with useful events: form lead, qualified phone lead, appointment set, appointment shown, sale, service appointment, trade appraisal, or another outcome the dealership can reliably record. A click or form submit is only part of the story.

## Keep source context attached

Campaign, channel, rooftop, vehicle or offer, geography, date, and source should travel far enough to be useful in the CRM and reporting. If a source gets overwritten or reduced to “internet,” the group loses the ability to learn from it.

## Use platform reporting with care

Google Analytics and ad platforms can assign credit differently. Google Analytics offers several attribution approaches, including data-driven and last-click models. Use those reports as one view of performance, then reconcile them with CRM outcomes and dealership records.

## Review a consistent scorecard

A useful monthly review includes spend, calls, forms, appointment rates, show rates, cost by source, inventory context, lead quality, and outcomes when available. The question is always the same: what should we keep, fix, pause, or fund next?
